Purpose: Chemistry related scientific software
To calculate the molecular weight of a compound
from its chemical formula
Status of software: Freeware (although small donations are
always welcome when requesting upgrades)

This application provides interactive help when the !Help
application (or !Bubblehelp) is active, and requires Risc OS
3.1 or later.
__________________________________________________________
What this software does
It calculates from a molecular formula the molecular
weight, and also the mass of the compound corresponding to a
selected number of millimoles. The percentage elemental
composition can be displayed, and the user may also define
their own groups for use in calculations. Formulae are
entered in a way as near to the conventional method of
writing formulae as is consistent with the standard WIMP
interface. For example, methane is C1H4, and toluene (methyl
benzene) could be entered either as C7H8, or as C6H5C1H3.

Running the application
As a fully RISC-OS compliant application it can be started
from within the desktop by double clicking on the !MolWeight
icon in a directory viewer. Its icon is installed on the
iconbar. Clicking with SELECT on the iconbar icon opens a
window into which the formula can be entered, and the
results of the calculation are displayed. The program
normally uses average atomic weights for the calculations,
but it is also possible to use exact values of isotopic
atomic weight for a range of common isotopes. Since the
program allows you to enter your own data, any particular
isotope can be accommodated.
Use the on-line help for more information once the
application is running.
